There are several reasons why somebody would steal a car. It is generally for five main reasons: Joyriding, short-term transport, exporting, using in a crime, and chopping. Joyriding is generally done by two demographics: Young people and meth heads, and they do it solely for use. The car is generally burned or dumped in a lake. Short-term transport is when somebody steals a car for the purpose of transport within a short time period. Exported cars are generally shipped off using boats in cargo containers to the middle east or Asia. Most criminals use stolen cars in crimes to prevent authorities tracing the crime back to them. Lots of cars get chopped and have their parts sold to make profit. In Canada, the second leader in the world for car theft, the top two provinces for theft are Alberta and British Columbia respectively. The most common vehicles stolen are the Ford F350 in all of Canada and the Lexus RX350 in Quebec.
