Hyper-masculinity is a problem society has had for a very long time, where males in society are very masculine and can cause trouble and are more likely to commit crimes, especially sexual assault. I think that the societal norm of which males are supposed to be aggressive, masculine, and overall “Manly” is the root cause of hyper-masculinity, however I also believe that genetics has a large part in it. Genetics have caused men to have lots of testosterone, making men more likely to have violent reactions towards conflict as well as acting more aggressive. I think that males learn this behaviour from their parents, but only if they are the aggressive type of parents. More likely they will learn it from their peers in social settings, where they will learn that it’s normal because everybody else is acting like that. In conclusion, I think hyper-masculinity is derived from genetics and social settings.
